My name is Deborah Hughes and my obsession with showing and breeding dogs started in 1986 when I purchased a Bull Terrier bitch, Ch Allawah Empress Zoe, from Mrs Norma Baker, South Australia. I titled her with ease and gained multi In Group and In Show awards.

This gave me the "Show Bug"!

I have bred and titled several Bullies and also won a BISS with the puppy, Ch Nyroca Misty Star, bred by the late Mr Les Bennett, QLD. I am also a keen equestrian competitor. We breed and own Riding Ponies and Paints and own several horses that have won at Royal or National levels.

We are located just over a hour south of Adelaide, South Australia on 75 acres having run a small herd of cattle but have since changed to sheep due to our ever changing age, seemed easier to handle.

In 2005 my husband Clive, claimed he wanted a 'Amstaff'.

My love for Bull Terriers was still strong and we did not see eye to eye!

Unbeknown to me, he purchased Ch Nganjalu Breathless as a puppy from my now close friend Joanne McLoud. Maddison was bought as a 'pet' as I was into showing horses at that time and I was no longer interested in competing with dogs.

Within 24 hours of bringing Madd home, she was MY dog. I was hooked on this lovely breed and with Joannes encouragement began to show her sparingly. Maddie bloomed into a lovely bitch winning under International Judges, In Class at Specialty Shows and CC Bitch at  Royal level.

In 2007 we decided to put Maddie in pup. Not having a Prefix for many years I went under Joanne McLouds prefix, Nganjalu. A litter of 11 was produced and I was so impressed with the quality of babies I applied for my own prefix.

In 2008  "AMSTAFOMINE"  was born.  We imported frozen semen in 2008 from the world renowned, 'Multi Champion Willynwood Redneck (USA)  from Betty Michl, MICHL-R KENNELS, U.S.A We would like to thank Betty Michl for enabling us to improve our line by using Redneck & are very happy with the result!

In 2011 frozen semen was imported from the very handsome brindle dog, 'Multi Champion Playmakers Cotton Dragon'. Dragon resides in Croatia & traveled to the U.S to obtain his USA Champion Title, which he gained easily with limited outings!.

Again we would like to thank our good friend & Dragon's owner, Rinaldo Kvesic & his family from Playmakers Kennels, Croatia & also Jack & Adrian Pooler, Pooler's Amstaffs, U.S.A for making it all possible!

In 2011 we expanded our breeding program to incorporate two very beautiful dogs, USA Ch RU Popeye & USA Int Ch Bergstaff From Dusk To Dawn from the wonderful, Sandy Underwood, of R U Kennels USA.

In 2012 we were again privileged by Norbert Tibay of Fianna Kennels (Hungary) to import semen from some stunning examples of the breed,   Ch Staff O'Class Find Me In Paris,  USA, Slov. Austrian, Hungarian & Slovakian Ch BISS Apines Rio Grande, Ch SBigstaff Fiannas Handlers Pride, & JCh Hyper Fianna Lines of Daftraptors.

We have made so many new friends both in Australia & in various parts of the world & each and every one has been my mentor giving me great advice along the way.

Today, in 2016, we look forward to a new and exciting new import in 2017 but will let you know more about this when it happens!

All of these wonderful people have just once thing in common, "THE LOVE OF THE AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER" & the deep drive to improve the breed for tomorrow.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who has helped us along the way offering us their advice and friendship along our journey.

Cheers for now

Deb Hughes
